With over two decades of dedicated service to the Prescott community, Dr. Terry Vaughan is a highly respected physician specializing in psychiatry and addiction treatment. Known for her compassionate care and clinical expertise, Dr. Vaughan has helped thousands of patients navigate the complexities of mental health with skill, empathy, and dedication.

Education & Training

Dr. Vaughan earned her medical degree (M.D.) from Indiana University School of Medicine in 1993. She completed her internship in Internal Medicine at St. Vincent’s Hospital, followed by her Psychiatry Residency at Indiana/Purdue University, which she completed in 1997.

Professional Experience

Dr. Vaughan began her career as Medical Director of a geriatric inpatient psychiatric unit and outpatient clinic with Tenet Hospital Corporation in Crawfordsville, Indiana. In 1999, she moved to Prescott, Arizona, joining West Yavapai Guidance Clinic where she was eventually promoted to Medical Director. Over her 10-year tenure, she supervised a multidisciplinary team of 16 physicians and mid-level providers, guiding the clinic’s psychiatric care across a broad patient population.

Areas of Expertise

Dr. Vaughan treats a wide range of psychiatric conditions and has advanced expertise in both general psychiatry and addiction medicine. She is certified to provide Suboxone (buprenorphine) treatment for opioid use disorder and has served as Medical Director of an inpatient detox center, managing complex cases of withdrawal and medication-assisted treatment.

She works with both adolescents and adults, tailoring treatment plans to meet each patient’s specific needs.

Honors & Recognition

Dr. Vaughan is board-certified in General Psychiatry and a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association (APA). In 2009, she was honored by the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) as one of the country’s Exemplary Psychiatrists—a testament to her outstanding commitment to patient care and mental health advocacy.
